Anaheim is changing the way safe and sane fireworks are sold in the city. This year, the eight Anaheim public high schools and eight eligible nonprofits will run their own stands at various spots in the city.
Anaheim's eight high schools will automatically receive a permit to raise money for sports, clubs or other uses
Nonprofits serving Anaheim will have the chance to enter a lottery, and eight winners can run stands and raise money for their causes
Lottery application period is closed. The lottery will take place on May 25.
April 26: Lottery applications available
May 19: Lottery applications due in person to City Clerk's Office by 5 p.m.
May 25: Lottery will take place at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers
June 12: Selected groups must submit completed permit application to Fire Marshal by 5 p.m.
