Mayor's Task Force-Welcoming Anaheim

About

The Mayor’s Task Force on the Welcoming Anaheim Initiative was established in December 2016 for the purposes of researching and developing a new community integration initiative. This initiative is to be modeled after the Welcoming America program and would seek to adopt policy tools and best practices from around the country on how best to integrate all members of our community, specifically new immigrants and refugees, and to assure them that they are a valued part of this city.

The Mayor’s Task Force on the Welcoming Anaheim Initiative brings together various civic, business and faith-based leaders together to explore how the city might develop more intentional and proactive methods to recognize and celebrate the rich contribution of cultures that are reflected in our city’s residents and small business owners. This idea is modeled after the Welcoming America movement, an internationally recognized nonprofit based in Atlanta, Georgia. Through this collaborative approach, over 70 cities nationwide have successfully joined this organization.

The Mayor’s Task Force on the Welcoming Anaheim Initiative is comprised of leaders from various civic, business and faith-based organizations, including Council Members Stephen Faessel and Dr. Jose Moreno.
