Anaheim Police Department Hosts Inaugural Coppers & Choppers Expo to Promote Motorcycle Safety


ANAHEIM, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2017) – The Anaheim Police Department (APD), in collaboration with Lifestyle Cycles, is hosting the inaugural Coppers & Choppers Safety Expo on Nov. 18, 2017. This event is a citywide response to combating the increase of motorcycle fatalities in California. The goal is to reduce fatal and major injury traffic collisions and strengthen the relationship between the motorcycle community and the APD.

This all-day event is free and open to the community and riders of all motorcycle styles and skill levels. Attendees can receive hands-on motorcycle rider instruction, watch demonstrations, and submit their motorcycles into the bike show. Food, music and industry vendors will also be onsite. The event will be located at the Orangewood entrance of Angel Stadium and run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Motorcycle Fatality Facts:

  • Six motorcycle fatalities in Anaheim as of October 2017 (five of which were motorists without their M1 endorsement)
  • 12.1% increase in California Motorcycle fatalities (463 in 2014 to 519 in 2015)
  • 4,956 motorcyclists were killed nationwide in 2015

This event is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety and the Anaheim Police Department.
