Tracking coronavirus: Anaheim update

ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 12, 2020) — The city of Anaheim and venues across the city are moving forward with plans to reflect California’s new statewide policy for public gatherings issued late Wednesday by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The guidelines call for modifying or postponing non-essential gatherings of 250 or more people through at least March 31 to help stem the spread of coronavirus across the state.

Here are updates from:

At the city of Anaheim, initial steps we are taking:

  • Deferring events at the Anaheim Convention Center through March 31 for rescheduling later.
  • Putting off city events involving more than 250 people, and, in many cases, those with less than 250 people.
  • Coordinating with recreational soccer, softball and other sports leagues on best practices with the potential of postponement.
  • City Hall, community centers and libraries remain open. Community services and library programs and larger events will be deferred and subject to change.
  • Events and gatherings for seniors, a sensitive population, will be deferred.
  • State of the City featuring Mayor Harry Sidhu, put on the by the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, will be rescheduled from March 23 to a new, forthcoming date in coming weeks.

The state policy does not apply to daily operations of schools but limits gatherings and field trips.

Anaheim’s transit facility, the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, better known as ARTIC, continues operations.

We will continue to share additional updates and details. Check back often at and for our city at
