ANAHEIM, Calif. (Aug. 4, 2020) — Anaheim residents and those across Orange County can get no-cost, drive-thru COVID-19 testing at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Testing appointments are available Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only for those experiencing symptoms, essential workers or those who have had exposure risk.
“As Orange County’s largest city, Anaheim is meeting the challenge of coronavirus,” Mayor Harry Sidhu said. “No other Orange County city has the spaces and skills to make this happen on this scale. Anaheim is proud to do our part to address rising cases in our city and across the county.”
Testing is contact-free and self-administered inside in vehicles. Appointments can be made online, with medical assessments done by doctors and nurses.
For those with insurance, insurers will be billed with no out-of-pocket cost for those being tested. For those without insurance, federal funding will cover the cost of testing.
Testing is available for:
The testing site is on the west side of Anaheim Convention Center, in a surface parking lot and parking structure off West Street south of Katella Avenue.
The site is able to provide about 1,000 tests each day.
After a lighter, soft opening in the first two weeks, more appointments are now available. Appointments are made available in 48 hour windows.
Those with appointments enter from West Street south of Katella. They remain in their vehicles throughout the entire process, with windows rolled up except when receiving and returning testing materials.
While testing appointments are spread out throughout the day, patients should expect some wait time of five to 20 minutes as vehicles make their way through the testing site.
Residents in the area will see additional traffic on West Street but no added public health risk.
Those being tested are not out in the open, and staff will be wearing protective medical gear. Tests are processed offsite.
There will be traffic impacts on West Street. Residents and commuters are advised to avoid or limit travel on West Street from Katella Avenue to Orangewood Avenue for their own convenience.
The testing site is part of Anaheim’s ongoing efforts to address the coronavirus crisis, in partnership with the county of Orange. The operator is Garden Grove-based 360 Clinic.
