ANAHEIM, CA - Anaheim Fire & Rescue has been receiving multiple calls regarding a possible fire in the area of Broadway and Manchester in Anaheim. This incident began as a mulch fire during the early afternoon of December 22, 2015 at a tree service disposal yard in the 1500 block of W. Broadway. The fire was quickly extinguished by Anaheim Fire & Rescue personnel. Since that time, the mulch has continued to smolder and is producing an excessive amount of smoke. As a result, Broadway will be closed in both directions between Hessel and Mable (east of Loara and west of Manchester) until further notice.
There is no danger of fire extension and no homes or businesses are in danger. City personnel are working with the business owner to mitigate the situation as quickly as possible. The dispatch centers for both police and fire have been inundated with telephone calls regarding the smoke. Please rest assured both departments are aware of the incident and involved in bringing it to a quick resolution.
