ANAHEIM, CA – Anaheim Police Homicide Detectives have announced the arrest of a suspect in Thursday afternoon’s shooting death in the parking lot of Peralta Canyon Park. Humberto Servin, 49 years of age, and a resident of Orange, has been booked on suspicion of murder at the Anaheim Police Detention Facility. Servin’s bail was statutorily set at $1,000,000.
At 2:37 pm on May 12, 2016, Anaheim Police received several calls of shots fired in the parking lot of Peralta Canyon Park, 115 N. Pinney Drive in Anaheim. Upon arrival, officers found an adult female victim seated in the driver’s seat of a white vehicle and suffering from gunshot wounds. Police officers and personnel from Anaheim Fire & Rescue performed life saving measures and the victim was transported to Orange County Global Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Investigation revealed there were several eyewitnesses to the shooting, including some children. The witnesses quickly provided a detailed description of Servin and his vehicle, and the information was relayed to patrol units. Within 15 minutes, police officers located Servin’s Gray 2002 Dodge Ram parked in the parking lot of the Anaheim Police Department East District substation at 8201 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road. Servin was located nearby and was detained without incident.

The Anaheim Police Department is working with the School District to ensure any students who witnessed the incident receive counseling if needed. A community meeting is being planned for the very near future and details will be provided when they have been confirmed.

The victim has been identified as Claudia Espino Garcia, a 32 year old resident of Tustin. The victim and suspect were married, but estranged. The length of the relationship and details surrounding their estrangement are still being investigated.
A firearm was recovered in the suspect's vehicle. While we believe it is the murder weapon, only forensic testing will be able to confirm that it is.
The couple had three children. The genders and ages are not being released. The children are in the care of Orange County Social Services.
