Residential Burglar Caught on Video Arrested After Tips from Public

ANAHEIM, CA – A residential burglar caught on a home security video was arrested after tips from the public led police to his identity. On October 24, 2016, Anaheim Police responded to a residential burglary in the 1200 block of N. Lighthouse Lane in Anaheim. Investigation revealed at least one male suspect jumped a fence on the side of the residence and forced entry into the residence. Cash, camera equipment, and miscellaneous items were stolen. Additionally, the victim’s silver 2004 Dodge 1500 pickup (California License Plate 7J12688) was stolen from the garage. A home security video captured the suspect jumping the fence and ransacking the residence. Late yesterday afternoon portions of the video footage were posted on the APD Facebook page with a request for public assistance in identifying the suspect. Today, several local news outlets featured the video. As a result, information was received that led the Anaheim Police Department Crime Task Force and Burglary/Auto Theft Detail to Matthew Russell Kundrat, a 20 year old resident of Anaheim. Kundrat was identified as the suspect seen in the video and was arrested without incident during an investigatory traffic stop. He was booked at the Anaheim Detention Facility for burglary and possession of stolen property. The statutory bail is $50,000, but a request has been filed for increased bail due to the circumstances of the crime. The Dodge pickup has not been recovered and detectives are working to determine if Kundrat is involved in additional crimes. Booking photo is shown below:
