ANAHEIM, CA – Anaheim detectives have located an eight year old girl who was the victim of a parental abduction nearly a week ago. The child’s mother, Deja Hallett, a 24 year old resident of Downey, is in custody and has been booked at the Anaheim Detention Facility for child concealment. Bail is statutorily set at $25,000. However, based on the circumstances of the crime detectives have petitioned the court for a bail enhancement. Last Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Hallett picked her daughter up from school in Anaheim. There are no custody orders in effect and the parents had been operating with verbal agreements only. After picking the child up from school, Hallett moved from her apartment and made efforts to conceal the child from the father. A report was filed with the Anaheim Police Department and personnel from the Family Protection Detail, Crime Task Force, and Vice Detail have been searching for Hallett and the child ever since. The investigation led detectives to several locations throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties. Late this afternoon the child was located in Whittier and has been reunited with her father. Hallett was arrested a short time later in Whittier. Booking photo shown below:
