Anaheim Man Arrested For Stabbing Girlfriend To Death

ANAHEIM, CA (JANUARY 20, 2017) – Homicide detectives have arrested a 27 year old man for fatally stabbing his girlfriend Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of E. Wilken Way. Frank Moseley, a resident of Anaheim was booked late last night for one count of first degree murder. He is being held at the Anaheim Detention Facility on $1,000,000 bail.

Moseley is accused of killing 25 year old Janessa Smith inside the couple’s apartment. Police first became aware of the incident around 1:40 pm yesterday afternoon when Moseley drove his vehicle in front of an APD patrol officer who was driving s/b on Wilshire St north of Lincoln Ave. Moseley exited his vehicle with a 6-8 month old baby girl in his arms and began yelling at the officer to shoot him. Moseley then told the officer he had killed his wife at the apartment on Wilken Way. The officer involved used incredible restraint in dealing with the situation and was able to convince Moseley to put the baby down and take Moseley into custody. While officers were responding to Wilken Way, a 911 call was received indicating unknown persons were performing CPR on a female who was down inside the apartment. When APD and AF&R personnel arrived, they found Smith deceased inside, the victim of an apparent stabbing.

The baby has been determined to be the couple’s child. The baby was unharmed and is in protective custody at Orangewood Children’s Home. The motive for the killing is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
