USA Volleyball donates $200,000 in gear to Anaheim high schools

Volleyball Donation

It’s not every day you get something for free. But one Friday afternoon in March, high school students in the Anaheim Union High School District received $200,000 worth of free volleyball equipment and gear from USA Volleyball.

Totaling more than 4,500 pieces, the donation included game jerseys, tank tops, practice warm-ups, jackets, kneepads and shoes.

Not only did the afternoon include free stuff for the student athletes, but 100 boys and girls from Katella, Magnolia and Savanna high schools also got to practice on the same courts that USA Volleyball’s national teams use.

Since 2006, Anaheim has been the training site for the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team, who have gone on to win gold and bronze medals at the 2008 and 2016 Olympic Games, respectively.

The U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team joined them in 2009, and has since won silver and bronze medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, respectively.

The national teams practice at the American Sports Centers on Anaheim Boulevard.
