ANAHEIM, Calif - (April 13, 2017) - After three years of investigation, Anaheim Police homicide detectives have identified the fifth victim of serial murderers Steven Gordon and Franc Cano. During the initial stages of the investigation information was obtained regarding a fifth potential victim, but her body was never recovered and her identity remained unknown until last week.
After countless hours of investigation, detectives have confirmed the identity of the victim as Sable Pickett of Compton, CA. She was two months shy of her 20th birthday at the time of her death. Detectives believe Pickett was abducted by Gordon and Cano from the Beach Blvd area of Anaheim on Valentines’ Day, 2014 and murdered later that evening.
Earlier this year Steven Gordon was convicted for his role in the murders of Jarrae Estepp, Kianna Jackson, Josephine Vargas, and Martha Anaya. He was sentenced to death. Cano remains in custody at Orange County Jail awaiting trial. His next court appearance is in May.
Due to the ongoing investigation, detectives will not release any further information about how they identified Pickett, but are confident she was the fifth victim and have made notification to her family.
