Victim Dies Days After Gang-Related Shooting

ANAHEIM, CALIF (October 8, 2017) – A 23 year old Anaheim man died Friday night, two days after being shot during a gang-related shooting. The suspect was arrested shortly after the shooting when witnesses saw him running from the scene.

Just before 5:00 pm Wednesday, October 4, 2017, APD officers responded to the 600 block of N. Alamo St regarding a man who had been shot. Officers located Roberto Hernandez who had been shot several times while sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Hernandez succumbed to his injuries late Friday night, October 6, 2017.

Witnesses saw a suspect running from the scene and directed officers to the 500 block of N. Gilbert St where the suspect was last seen. Officers contained the area and detained 31 year old Anaheim resident, Harvey Garcia, as he ran from an apartment complex in the area. Garcia has been identified as the shooting suspect and has been booked for murder. Garcia is being held without bail at Orange County Jail. A booking photo is not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
