Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle will announce the recipients of the 2008 Mayor’s TechScholar program during a ceremony at the Downtown Community Center. Each recipient will be awarded with a free laptop, a laptop backpack and up to two years of free internet service provided by Time Warner Cable.
A record-number 49 students from 16 area high schools were selected based on the quality of their application and essay, overall academic profile, and need. The program was underwritten by generous gifts from sponsors including, AT&T, Time Warner Cable, Anaheim Public Utilities, Anaheim Ducks, Makar and Enterasys.
The Mayor’s TechScholar program was created in 2006 by Mayor Curt Pringle to help provide Anaheim youth with the technological tools they need to be successful in college and beyond. The program is open to any college-bound high school sophomore or junior who lives in Anaheim.
