| ANAHEIM, CA - (May 21, 2008) - In honor of National Public Works Week, May 18-24, 2008, the City of Anaheim is proud to applaud its public works employees for their efforts to ensure the health, safety and quality of life for the people who live, work and visit Anaheim.
“National Public Works Week (NPWW) is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who construct and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works,” reports the American Public Works Association, sponsor of National Public Works Week.
Through the dedicated service of the City of Anaheim’s Department of Public Works staff, the Department provides the many services that meet the City’s infrastructure, construction and development needs.
The Engineering Division is responsible for pavement management of the arterial highway system and the master plan for all arterial street, storm drain and sewer improvements, traffic and transportation services, development-related services for private sector developments and the acquisition/disposal of public property. The Construction Services Division provides inspection and survey services and contract administration for all City capital improvement projects.
The Public Works Operations Division keeps the streets maintained and oversees trash collection within the City. The division is also responsible for the City’s asphalt and concrete maintenance program, streets, sidewalks, storm drains, sewers, right-of-way landscape, sign maintenance, street sweeping, traffic signals, solid waste program and maintenance of the Resort Area. The Fleet and Facility Division is responsible for maintenance and repair of the City’s fleet and facilities from fire trucks to libraries.
Public Works Week is an ideal time to recognize and honor the City of Anaheim’s Public Works Department employees who are constantly striving to meet the growing needs of the City while providing impeccable services to its residents, visitors and businesses.
