| ANAHEIM, CA - (June 10, 2008) - 5K Run, a Women's Triathalon and a Flag Day Ceremony are just a few reasons to spend the June 14-15 weekend outdoors in the City of Anaheim. The runs will also cause temporary morning street closures in selected areas.
The 9th annual Downtown Anaheim 5K and the Disneyland Danskin 2008 Women's Triathlon both promise to provide residents and visitors great sporting action. The traditional Flag Day celebration at the Center Street Promenade follows the Downtown Anaheim 5K.
DOWNTOWN ANAHEIM 5K & FLAG DAY CELEBRATION:
Hosted by the Downtown Anaheim Association, the 9th annual Downtown Anaheim 5K takes place on Saturday, June 14th. The 5K begins at 8:00 a.m., with a children's 1K at 9:00 a.m. The starting point is at Center Street Promenade and Anaheim Blvd. Proceeds from the event benefit “Project Support Anaheim's Youth” (Project SAY). Portions of Anaheim Blvd, Ball Road, Harbor Blvd, and Broadway will be closed from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
The Flag Day celebration, hosted by the Downtown Anaheim Flag Day Committee, begins at 10:30 a.m. The event offers free admission and parking, free flags provided by Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim, free cake and ice cream, as well as music and entertainment along the Center Street Promenade, located between Lincoln and Broadway. DISNEYLAND DANSKIN 2008 WOMEN’S TRIATHALON:
The Disneyland Danskin 2008 Women's Triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 15th. Participants of this race will swim in Paradise Bay at Disney's California Adventure, cycle approximately 11 miles through the City, and run two miles through Disney's California Adventure.
