U.S. Men’s Volleyball Team Departs For 2008 Olympic Games; Media Day And Community Send-off At Anaheim’s Espn Zone On July 29.
ANAHEIM, CA - (July 29, 2008) -

WHAT:

    Members of the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball team will soon depart for the 2008 Olympic Games. The City of Anaheim is hosting a media day and community send-off.

    The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team won its first FIVB World League title on Sunday by taking as 3-1 victory over Serbia in the gold medal match Brazil. U.S. setter Lloy Ball was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, and Best Setter. Rich Lambourne won the award for Best Libero for the second year in a row.

TEAM INFO:
    The team, ranked third in the world, includes seven players with previous Olympic Games experience.

    The Volleyball Olympians are supported at this event by Anaheim’s pro sports teams. At this community send-off, Angels’ Baseball will be represented by the Strike Force team, and Wild Wing will represent the Anaheim Ducks.

    The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball team trains in Anaheim, having permanently moved from Colorado Springs, Colo. in 2006. Their training center is at the American Sports Centers in Anaheim.
