| ANAHEIM, CA - (October 13, 2008) - Anaheim City Attorney Jack White announced his retirement, effective at the end of the year, concluding 32 years of service to the City.
“During my tenure as Mayor of Anaheim, I could always count on Jack to provide solid legal guidance to the Council,” said Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle. “And he always did so not only with professionalism, but also with a strong sense of teamwork. I appreciate all he has done to make Anaheim the great City that it is.”
“Jack has provided tremendous guidance to the City,” said Anaheim City Manager David M. Morgan. “He has been a strong and steady influence, has provided the leadership in all matters that come through the City Attorney’s office, and he has provided wise counsel to City staff and has kept City Councils well informed. On behalf of the City, I wish him all the best.”
White was appointed to the position of City Attorney in July, 1985. He has been an attorney with the City of Anaheim since 1977, having previously served as Deputy City Attorney and Assistant City Attorney. His office represents and advises the City Council, City departments and officials on all legal matters relating to City business, and prosecutes all misdemeanor and infraction offenses occurring within the City. In addition, his office represents the City and its officials in civil litigation and prepares all contracts, ordinances, resolutions and other legal documents for the City.
Prior to joining the Anaheim City Attorney’s Office, White was a partner at a San Marino law firm and provided contract legal services to 13 cities in the San Gabriel Valley, in addition to also serving as City Attorney for the city of Bradbury.
White earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Southern California in 1966, and a juris doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1969. He has been a practicing attorney in Southern California since 1970. Media Contact: Ruth Ruiz 714.765.5060 more city news
