Car Wash Proceeds To Benefit 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit
ANAHEIM, CA - (October 29, 2008) - Proceeds from all cars washed at Jerry’s Car Wash on Thursday, Oct. 30 will benefit the Marines and Soldiers of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Owner Jerry Zomorodian, with the Anaheim Marine Adoption Committee, invites the community to come out to support the 13th MEU. Jerry’s Car Wash is located at the ARCO station on the corner of Anaheim Blvd and Broadway Ave., and will be open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The 13th MEU was adopted by the City of Anaheim on Oct. 9, 2007. Comprised of approximately 2,200 Marines and Sailors stationed at Camp Pendleton, the 13th MEU supports a variety of operations locally, nationally and internationally. The 13th MEU, together with U.S. Navy forces, serves as the nation’s forward deployed, quick-response team, and is capable of accomplishing numerous missions around the globe. As one of the three West Coast MEUs, the 13th MEU is routinely rotated through the Western Pacific/Southwest Asia region for six months at a time. The 13th MEU capabilities include amphibious operations, maritime special operations, peacekeeping operations and supporting operations.

The City of Anaheim is proud to sponsor these men and women as they give their lives to protect our country. The Marine Adoption Committee serves as a support system for the 13th MEU and their families at home and while deployed. In return, the 13th MEU provides community support by participating in local school and city functions to encourage interaction between the Anaheim community and military personnel.
