Anaheim Offers Kids – And Parents – Holiday, Christmas And School Vacation Activities
ANAHEIM, CA - (December 2, 2008) - The holiday and Christmas seasons can be wonderful and exciting … and hectic.  The City of Anaheim is offering a variety of programs for just about every member of the family, from day camps, to winter break recreational opportunities, to events just for the kids so parents can have a few hours to shop.

AN OGRE HOLIDAY WORKSHOP (for boys and girls ages 5-13)
From 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., kids will journey through a life size game, create green gingerbread houses, master arts and crafts, interact in games, and at 6:30 p.m. enjoy dinner and a movie.  The cost is $15 per child.  Parents, this is your time to shop.

Dates/locations:
Dec. 12 at the Brookhurst Community Center, 2271 W. Crescent Ave.
Dec. 19 at the East Anaheim Gymnasium, 8165 E. Santa Ana Canyon Rd.

Time:
4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

BASKETBALL AND CHEER LEAGUE (for boys and girls ages 7-13)
This league will teach participants about  teamwork, sportsmanship and making friends, all in a fun environment while learning and enhancing their basketball and cheerleading skills.  The cost is $35 per participant, or $10 per child for members currently enrolled in the City of Anaheim Kids in Action program.   A late fee of $5 will be added to registrations received after Dec. 15.

Dates:             
Dec. 15, 2008 – Feb. 21, 2009 (day of the week varies according to the park)

Time:
4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Locations:
Leagues are offered many Anaheim parks and community centers.

BASKETBALL CAMP (for boys and girls ages 7-13)
Bring your water bottles and get ready to learn some new basketball skills!  This camp is for beginning and intermediate level players (may be too elementary for advanced players).  Participants will work closely with a professional staff in a fun environment.  Equipment will be provided, plus there will be special giveaways throughout the camp.  The cost is $35 per session.

Dates:
Session 1 – Dec. 22 - 24
Session 2 – Dec. 29 - 31
Session 3 – Jan. 5 - 9

Time:
9 a.m. – 12 noon

Location:
West Anaheim Youth Center, 320 S. Beach Blvd.

CAMPVENTURE WINTER DAY CAMP (for boys and girls ages 6-13)
The travel log for each camp session includes games, crafts, movies, archery, songs, nature, science, sports, cooking and a weekly excursion.  CampVenture provides a well-rounded, fun and exciting atmosphere for campers.  Attentive and energetic day camp counselors are well trained to work with and teach your camper.  With a low participant to counselor ratio, we provide one-on-one interaction at camp.  The cost per camp is indicated below if registration takes place between Nov. 17 – Dec. 15.  After Dec. 15 the price increases by $10 per camp.

Week 1 – Dec. 22, 23 and 26 (closed Dec. 24 and 25), $66.00
Week 2 – Dec. 29, 30 and Jan. 2 (camp closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1), $66.00
Week 3 – Jan. 5-9, $110.00

7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p .m.

Location:        
Peralta Park, 115 N. Pinney Ave.

SOCCER CAMP (beginning January 2009)
Kids ages 3-5 years and 6-13 years can learn the fundamentals of soccer - kicking, passing, shooting, game strategies, teamwork and sportsmanship.   The cost is $35 for each course.

Peanuts Soccer Camp (ages 3-5 years)
Wednesdays, Jan. 7 – Feb. 18, 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Rascals Soccer Camp (ages 6-13 years)
Session 1:  Jan. 12 - 16, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Session 2:  Jan. 19 - 23, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Session 3:  Jan. 26 - 30, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Chaparral Park (1770 E. Broadway) and
