ANAHEIM, CA - (February 9, 2009) - City of Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle announced today a new way for residents, businesses and visitors to stay informed of time-sensitive city information. Anaheim Alert, an opt-in text-based community notification system, launches today.
"Anaheim Alert is a great complement to the City’s efforts in communicating and connecting with its residents, businesses and visitors," said Mayor Pringle. "It is easy to sign up, registration is free, and we hope everyone in Anaheim takes advantage of this system so our city is truly a community connected."
Anaheim Alert messages will include time-sensitive information related to unplanned road closures, power outages, event venue traffic congestion, fires, and natural disasters. Users can choose from among the message categories in order to customize their account according to interest, location and need. With Anaheim Alert, messages and updates can immediately be sent to a large audience of users notifying them of important information.
Signing up for Anaheim Alert is simple. The first step is to log on to www.AnaheimAlert.net, and follow the prompts to self-subscribe to e-mail, text messages, or both. In addition, anyone may also sign up for the service by texting the word "register" to 311ANA (311262). Please note that standard text messaging charges apply. The City’s website, www.anaheim.net, also has a link to Anaheim Alert.
Today’s launch of Anaheim Alert is another example of the City’s efforts to keep the City of Anaheim connected. The Anaheim Alert community notification system complements the City’s 311 and Anaheim Anytime customer service programs.
