| ANAHEIM, CA - (April 13, 2009) - The City of Anaheim will welcome the city’s newest affordable housing complex, Diamond Apartment Homes, at a special grand opening ceremony on Tuesday, April 14, at 11 a.m. Diamond Apartment Homes, a 25-unit complex dedicated to low-income families, is located at 1310 W. Diamond Street in Anaheim.
This innovative residential community in Anaheim, co-developed by Jamboree Housing Corporation and H.O.M.E.S. (Helping Our Mentally Ill Experience Success), is a pioneering multifamily development that provides both housing and mental health supportive services for previously homeless individuals and their families. For these residents with persistent mental illness, permanent housing is critical to providing stability and ongoing mental health services. Diamond Apartment Homes will provide housing that allows families to remain together – and in some cases reunite them.
Diamond is integral to the City of Anaheim’s commitment to expand the development of affordable housing to more than 1,400 units in five years. In addition, the City purchased 17 remnant parcels of an Interstate 5 freeway expansion from the Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) to recycle these properties back into use.
All fully furnished units in Diamond Apartment Homes include ENERGY STAR appliances, window and floor coverings, ample storage closets and private outdoor space. A 2,500 square foot resident services center features case management offices, a teaching kitchen, multipurpose room and computer lab. Surrounded by lush landscape, Diamond is a modern, compact design community with shopping, medical services, employment opportunities and schools nearby. Diamond is designed to be the developer’s first GreenPoint Rated community. This lowers resident energy consumption, provides a cost-saving benefit to residents, improves the financial feasibility of the development and promotes the health of residents.
Grand opening ceremony participants to include: Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle and City Council; Supervisor Chris Norby, Fourth District Orange County Board of Supervisors; Araceli Gonzales, Deputy Director, Governor’s Office, Los Angeles; Jamboree Housing Corporation and H.O.M.E.S., Inc executives; and representatives from the Anaheim Housing Authority, Anaheim Redevelopment Agency, California Department of Housing and Community Development – Multi housing Program, California Housing Finance Agency, OC Community Services, WNC & Associates, Inc., Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
