Anaheim Convention Center Remains Venue of Choice for Major Industry Leaders
Disney’s D23 Expo and Natural Products Expo added to 2011 and beyond
ANAHEIM, CA - (March 23, 2010) - The City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) remain the destination and venue of choice for numerous industry leading events, as seen in the recent signing of a contract extension and booking of two major organizations: Disney’s D23 Expo and Natural Products Expo West. Both expos bring thousands of visitors to Anaheim.

D23, Disney’s rapidly growing worldwide fan community, will hold its second D23 Expo in Anaheim Aug. 19-21, 2011. Nearly 40,000 people from around the world experienced the first-ever D23 Expo in 2009. The 2011 D23 Expo will offer an exciting look at the past, present and future of everything Disney, including theme parks, movies, TV, music, animation and more, plus panel discussions, celebrity guest appearances and special presentations.

"The first D23 Expo surpassed all of our expectations, and our guests told us that they loved the venue and the location," said Steven Clark, head of D23. “We’re really happy to be bringing the D23 Expo back to Anaheim in 2011.”

Natural Products Expo West, the world’s largest natural and organic products tradeshow celebrated its 30th anniversary in Anaheim this year. The 2010 show set attendance records with 56,000 attendees and filled the Anaheim Convention Center with an array of natural and organic retailers and vendors.

Nutrition industry sales totaled approximately $110 billion in the U.S. in 2009, up $10 billion from 2008, according to Nutrition Business Journal. The Natural Living Expo features eco-friendly home and lifestyle products, including food and beverage choices.

In addition, Natural Products Expo West signed with the Anaheim Convention Center to host their national convention in Anaheim annually through 2013.

“We have enjoyed the time we’ve been here. The show is synonymous with Anaheim, and we are glad to sign this extension,” said Fred Linder, President of New Hope Natural Media, a division of Penton Media.

“The Anaheim Convention Center has been fortunate to host Disney’s D23 Expo and Natural Products Expo West, both major conventions in their respective industries,” said Tom Morton, City of Anaheim’s Executive Director for Convention, Sports and Entertainment.” It is natural for Disney’s D23 to hold their convention in Anaheim, and we are pleased we can provide the quality and service expected of D23 fans. With Natural Products, both the ACC and the natural products industry have grown together, and we are looking forward to continued growth. Both have been great partners and we are excited to work with them in the future.”

Charles Ahlers, president of the Anaheim/OC Visitor & Convention Bureau added, “Anaheim is proud to host well-known conventions and trade shows such as the Natural Products Expo West and of course Disney’s D23 Expo. Both are stellar events for Anaheim, and both are truly embraced by the community for making a positive economic impact.”
