Anaheim Firefighters to Participate in a Mock DUI Crash Event at Anaheim High School on April 13
ANAHEIM, CA - (April 12, 2010) - Anaheim Firefighters will participate in the Every 15 Minutes mock DUI program. The Every 15 Minutes is a powerful program focusing on high school juniors and seniors and challenges them to think about drinking, driving, personal safety, the responsibility of making mature decisions and the impact their decisions have on family, friends, first responders and many others. The program brings together a broad coalition of interested local agencies with the goal of reducing alcohol-related incidents among youth.

What: Anaheim Firefighters will participate in the Every 15 Minutes mock DUI program. This day’s event will follow four students through a drinking event, their decision to drive, a simulated car crash with real vehicles and on-scene treatment/extrication using the Jaws of Life. The event concludes with the arrest of the drunk driver and family notification of a death.

Who: This event is a successful representation of the partnership between the Anaheim Fire Department, Anaheim Union High School District, and Anaheim High School, Anaheim Police Department, CARE Ambulance, Western Medical Center Santa Ana, Hilgenfeld Mortuary and numerous other organizations that support the impact of this dramatization.
