|City of Anaheim Appoints Bob Wingenroth as Finance Director|
ANAHEIM, CA - (September 29, 2010) - The Anaheim City Council has, by Motion, approved the appointment of Bob Wingenroth as Finance Director. Wingenroth comes to Anaheim from Huntington Beach, Calif., where he served as Finance Director. He will assume his duties in Anaheim on Nov. 17.
As Finance Director, Wingenroth will be responsible for the overall operations of the Finance Department, including accounting, budget, information services, payroll, purchasing, risk management, and workers compensation.
"We are pleased to welcome Bob to the City of Anaheim," said City Manager Thomas J. Wood. "He will be a valuable addition to the fine staff of the City's Finance Department, and we look forward to his leadership in the years to come."
Wingenroth has served more than 30 years in local government finance, with the cities of Huntington Beach and Phoenix, Ariz. As Finance Director with Huntington Beach (2009-2010), he managed the city's budget, developed a five year financial plan, and strengthened the city's financial reserve policy.
In 1980 Wingenroth began his career with the city of Phoenix, in an entry level trainee position. He worked his way up to City Auditor in 1999, and was promoted to Finance Director in 2005. With Phoenix he was responsible for overseeing $2 billion in financing projects including the Convention Center and Hotel, water and wastewater infrastructure, public safety and recreation facilities.
As an active member of the community Wingenroth has volunteered for the YMCA, and earned Volunteer of the Year honors in 1996. He served on various boards in Phoenix, including the Bond Oversight Committee for the Phoenix Elementary School District and the Board of the Salvation Army. He also served as the Chair of the Phoenix Community Development and Investment Corporation, an organization that helps to provide capital in under-served areas of the community.
Wingenroth received his B.S. in Accounting and his MBA from Arizona State University, and also earned his Certified Public Accountant certificate in Arizona.
