|Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle Named to Senior Fellows Program at UCLA School Of Public Affairs|
ANAHEIM, CA - (December 2, 2010) - Curt Pringle, Mayor, City of Anaheim, has been named to the Senior Fellows Program for the UCLA School of Public Affairs. This prestigious program was created in 1997 to bring together accomplished policy leaders from the public, private and non-governmental sectors to engage in constructive dialogue with each other, with the students, and with the wider community.
The Senior Fellows volunteer their time and will serve as guest lecturers in the classroom, act as mentors to students, provide day-on-the-job visits, and participate in the schools programs. The UCLA School of Public Affairs is ranked in the top 15 in the country, according to U.S. News.
In his two terms in office in Anaheim, Mayor Pringle led the city in earning the distinction of being a municipality with a “freedom-friendly” approach to governing, which translated into many policy successes. Among them is the pioneering of tax-free incentives for both homeowners and new business owners which resulted in more than $28 million in new investment and new jobs. He has also made technology and customer service top priorities for the city, constantly looking for ways to use modern technology to improve city programs and services for benefit of Anaheim residents and businesses. In 2009, he formed the first-ever Mayor’s Technology Advisory Committee to help support the city’s focus on technology and created the Great Anaheim Apps Competition, which attracted creative mobile-based application ideas from all over the nation.
Prior to his election as mayor, Pringle served with distinction in the California State Assembly from 1988-90 and again from 1992-98. He was elected Speaker of the California State Assembly in January 1996, which is considered the second most powerful office in state government, and served until December 1996. In addition to his civic duties, the mayor runs Curt Pringle & Associates, a public relations, governmental affairs and consulting firm headquartered in Orange County.
Mayor Pringle joins an elite group of Senior Fellows for the 2010-2011 academic year. For additional information the Program please visit www.publicaffairs.ucla.edu.
