ANAHEIM, CA - (April 1, 2011) -

Anaheim residents looking for rosier roses, heftier veggies, or spectacular hedges can receive up to 60 gallons of nutrient-rich compost/soil conditioner – for free - at the City of Anaheim’s Great Compost Giveaway, scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 9.

The event, a partnership between the City of Anaheim’s Public Works Department and Anaheim Disposal, will be held at Katella High School, 2200 E. Wagner Avenue between State College Blvd and Sunkist Street. Rain or shine, the event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or while the supply lasts.

Residents are asked to bring their own containers or buckets (no bags please) to pick up the loose compost material. For more information on the Great Compost Giveaway or yard waste recycling program, call Anaheim Disposal’s Customer Service Department at (714) 238-2444.

Would you like to make your own compost material? Anaheim’s Department of Public Works will be offering Earth Machine compost bins and kitchen collector buckets for only $20 (a $50 value) at the Compost Giveaway on April 9.
