|Anaheim Hosts Fifth Annual Free Health Fair at Brookhurst Community Center|
ANAHEIM, CA - (June 7, 2011) - Anaheim's fifth annual free Health Fair will take place this year on Sunday, June 12, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Brookhurst Community Center. All are welcome – adults and children - and all services at the Health Fair are free. The Anaheim Health Fair is offered by the City of Anaheim in partnership with the Anekant Community Center, GBS Linens, Inc., and the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.
Medical and surgical specialists from various fields will be available to provide free consultations for adults and children. A partial list of services to be offered at the free Health Fair will include:
Physical exams (vital signs and screenings); heart checks (EKG); cholesterol checks (lipid profile requires 8 hours fasting before the test); diabetes (glucose) and anemia (hemoglobin) tests; bone strength measurement (bone density); Women's services (mammograms: patient qualifications required); eye exams; dental consultations; and chiropractic and acupuncture services.
Attendees can also voluntarily donate blood at the UC Irvine Healthcare Blood Mobile, onsite for this free event, as well as voluntarily sign-up to be a bone marrow donor.
The Anaheim Health Fair is part of an initiative that was introduced by Anaheim Mayor Pro Tem Harry Sidhu. "We are so pleased to once again offer everyone the opportunity to learn more about their health," said Mayor Pro Tem Sidhu. "This is a fantastic event, and we invite everyone to attend and take advantage of all the free services to help themselves, and to help others by donating blood or signing-up to be a bone marrow donor."
Event co-organizer Dr. Nitin Shah added, "Why offer free health screenings? Because health is the best wealth one can ever have."
