|Anaheim City Manager Offers Resignation|
ANAHEIM, CA - (November 9, 2011) - During closed session of the November 8 City Council meeting, the City Council advised City Manager, Tom Wood, of its desire to move in a different direction regarding the management of the City, and offered Mr. Wood the opportunity to resign. Today, the City Manager, respecting the wishes of the Council, tendered his resignation from the Office of City Manager, effective December 8, 2011. In accordance with the terms of his employment agreement, Mr. Wood will be paid a terminating payment equal to six months of his monthly base salary, to be disbursed monthly through June 7, 2012, resulting in additional retirement service credit and continuation of Mr. Wood’s medical, dental and life insurance benefits through that date.
Mr. Wood has over 20 years of service as a member of Anaheim’s management team, serving in the capacity of Deputy City Manager, Assistant City Manager, and, most recently, as City Manager. Under his leadership, the City has accomplished numerous milestones, including the successful expansion of the Anaheim Resort, the implementation of an aggressive capital improvement program resulting in the construction and/or renovation of many community facilities, and the creation of numerous technology initiatives that seek to change the way Anaheim residents and visitors connect and do business with City Hall.
Mayor Tom Tait offered the following statement: "On behalf of the City Council, I accept the resignation of City Manager Tom Wood. We want to thank him for his many years of service to the people of Anaheim. I know that everyone in the city—council members and city staff—wishes Tom the best of luck in his future endeavors."
Mr. Wood will be working with the City Council and City administration to transition the leadership of the City to an interim City Manager.
