U.S. National Volleyball Teams Make Final Southern California Appearances Before The London 2012 Olympic Games
ANAHEIM, CA - (July 16, 2012) -

WHAT:
The U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Volleyball Teams will participate in local community events prior to departing for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

July 16 and 18: The Women’s Team, as nominated to the United States Olympic Committee, will play the Bulgarian National Team at an exhibition series at USC’s Galen Center. Military members will receive two complimentary tickets to each match. See details below.

July 17: The Men’s and Women’s Teams will be at Disneyland Resort for a parade on Main Street, followed by an autograph session in front of ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney. See details below.

Anaheim is the Official Host City for the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Volleyball Teams. The Women’s Team, ranked No. 1 in the world, looks to improve upon their 2008 Olympic Games Silver Medal this year in London. The Men’s Team, Gold Medal champions at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, is ranked No. 5 in the world.

SCHEDULE:
Monday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 18

  • 7 p.m.: U.S. Women’s National Team vs. Bulgarian National Team (exhibition matches)
    Galen Center, USC (3400 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA).
  • Tickets are $10 for adults, or $5 per ticket for groups of 10 or more. Visit www.usctrojans.com/usa to purchase tickets. For a flyer,click here.
  • USC is offering two complimentary admission tickets to all military personnel, upon presentation of military ID. Tickets must be picked up at the Galen Center box office.

    Tuesday, July 17

  • 1 p.m. – Men’s and Women’s Team members will be featured in a parade down Main Street in Disneyland Park.
  • 3:30-4:30 p.m. – Men’s and Women’s Team members will be in front of ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney to sign autographs and meet the public. This is a free opportunity for the community to meet the Olympic Volleyball teams. Fans will receive commemorative rally towels, and fans can sign a banner and wish the athletes success in London.
  • Downtown Disney is open to the public, and parking at Downtown Disney is free for the first three hours.

    BACKGROUND:
    Since 2006 Anaheim has been identified as a United States city with international sports distinction and American pride experienced every four years through the phenomenon of the Olympic Games. The Men’s Team moved its training headquarters to Anaheim from Colorado Springs, Colo. in 2006, followed by the Women’s Team in 2009.
