|Public Input Invited for Anaheim Rapid Connection Transportation Project|
ANAHEIM, CA - (August 29, 2012) - The public is invited to attend a community meeting to learn more about the Anaheim Rapid Connection (ARC), a proposed transit system, and to provide input on alternatives under consideration. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Room 213A. Two sessions featuring the same presentation/format will be offered from 3-5 p.m., and from 6-8 p.m. Free parking is available for this meeting in Car Park 1, adjacent to Katella Ave.
The proposed ARC Project is a 3.5-mile transit system that would provide seamless connections with Metrolink, Amtrak, bus and future high-speed train service from the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) to major activity centers in the Platinum Triangle and The Anaheim Resort. This state-of-the art system is envisioned to improve mobility for Anaheim’s growing number of residents and workers by providing transportation to home, work and regional transit. For Anaheim’s approximate 20 million annual visitors, this system would offer a visible, efficient and reliable transit service to Anaheim’s major destinations.
The City, in cooperation with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), is studying different technologies as part of the Alternative Analysis (AA) including a No Build option, an Enhanced Bus, a Streetcar and an Elevated Fixed-Guideway. Following completion of the AA, the City Council will consider selection of a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA), which will be further analyzed as part of an environmental review process.
