Seventh Annual Free Anaheim Health Fair Served More Than 800 Attendees With New Services
ANAHEIM, CA - (July 11, 2013) - The seventh annual free Anaheim Health Fair, held on Sunday, June 30, saw more than 800 men, women and children receive free health screenings, exams, and for the first time in the event’s history, dental work.

The one-day event, which took place at Magnolia High School, offered residents free access to services such as physical exams (vital signs and screenings); heart checks (EKG); cholesterol checks; diabetes (glucose) and anemia (hemoglobin) tests; bone strength measurement (bone density); women’s services; eye exams; dental consultations; chiropractic and acupuncture services; voluntary bone marrow donor program sign-ups.

This was the first year dental services were offered onsite, thanks to the Lestonnac Free Clinic, which provided dental chairs and equipment. More than 100 patients received services such as dental extractions and cavity filling.

Of the 800 attendees, more than 400 fasted the previous night and participated in the lipid profile and blood glucose basic blood testing.

The Anaheim Health Fair was presented by founding partners the City of Anaheim, the Anekant Community Center and GBS Linens, Inc., and was co-chaired by Anaheim Mayor Pro Tem Gail Eastman and Council Member Jordan Brandman.

"This year's health fair was a huge success thanks to all of our volunteers, medical partners and sponsors," said Eastman. "Possible life threatening conditions were identified in at least two attendees who were then treated immediately. It's great to know that we were able to help so many community members plus potentially even save lives that day."

“The 2013 Health Fair gave hundreds of men, women and children a place to turn for much needed medical and dental attention. I am so proud of all the doctors, medical staff, volunteers, and our friends at Magnolia High School for opening their hearts, and for providing services to those in need,” said Brandman.

Sponsors for this year’s event included the City of Anaheim; the Anekant Community Center; GBS Linens, Inc.; Lestonnac Free Clinic; C2Reprographics; Mr. and Mrs. Avadhesh Agarwal; UC Irvine Healthcare; Anaheim Public Utilities; and West Anaheim Medical Center.
