|Summer Edition Of Anaheim Magazine Available Today|
ANAHEIM, CA - (July 22, 2013) - The Anaheim magazine, the City’s award-winning quarterly publication distributed to households citywide, begins its summer edition delivery today, featuring articles and information to keep residents up-to-date about their City. In addition, anyone can access the publication immediately at www.anaheim.net/magazine.
The summer issue features the Anaheim Police Department’s Jr. Cadet class of 2013, an exciting new girls youth volleyball program, a new City spotlight column that will feature a City department in each issue, plus more. Each quarterly publication also lists a calendar of upcoming events and a contact list for quick reference to essential City services.
“Making Jr. Cadet History” shines a light on Anaheim Police Department’s Cops4Kids Jr. Cadet program that keeps boys and girls off the streets by teaching valuable lessons in hard work and respect. The youth meet for a 14-week regimen of boot camp style activities that keep their ethics sharp and self-esteem high. This year, the program hit a landmark of more than 300 graduates, which is double that of any past year in its nine-year history.
“Professional Volleyball Athletes Set up a New Generation for Success” details USA Volleyball’s involvement in a new free athletic program for local girls. Starlings Volleyball, a free club volleyball program that spans 40 cities across the nation, reached Anaheim this past spring. In partnership with the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball team, who assist with coaching and mentoring the young athletes, a group of Anaheim Starlings made it to the Starling national championships in June.
“Public Works Working for You” introduces not only the work the Public Works department does for the City, but also a new column that will highlight the work of a different department in each issue. This time, read about how Public Works keeps our City running smoothly even when you’re not looking.
