ANAHEIM, CA - (October 8, 2013) - Anaheim is one of the most beautiful places to live, but living in the urban interface does not come without its risks. The fire season is now a year-round reality, requiring firefighters and residents to constantly be on heightened alert for the threat of wildfire.

To help prepare our residents for the reality of fire season, Anaheim Fire & Rescue invites you and your family to attend the Ready, Set, Go! (RSG) Block Party in celebration of Fire Prevention Week (October 6 -12). The event will be held on Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Anaheim Fire Station #10 located at 8270 Monte Vista, Anaheim, CA 92808.

The RSG! Program is designed to teach residents to be READY with preparedness understanding, be SET with situational awareness when fire threatens, and to GO!, acting early when a fire starts. Residents, business owners, visitors, and the media are invited to join Anaheim Fire Chief Randy Bruegman and the men and women of Anaheim Fire & Rescue for a day of education and fun including a wildland firefighting tools demonstration, a fire safe garden display, exhibit booths, and the unveiling of a new wildland fire prevention sign featuring a surprise special guest- Smokey Bear. Bring your family and friends and learn how you can promote and practice wildland fire safety.

Carlton Joseph, Fire Chief – Cleveland National Forest, John Hawkins, Fire Chief – CALFIRE Riverside Unit, and other invited dignitaries will be on hand to discuss the importance of planning for fire emergencies. Sponsors for this year’s event include All American Petroleum Corporation, Anaheim Firefighters Association, Anaheim Hills Master Planned Community Association, Anaheim Public Utilities, Naomi Gruenthal, and Popular Bank.
