|ANAHEIM’S OWN PUBLIC ROCKS BAND TO COMPETE IN ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME COMPETITION; COMMUNITY IS INVITED TO A FREE PRE-COMPETITION CONCERT|
ANAHEIM, CA - (March 14, 2014) - Anaheim’s employee-led, five member Rock and Roll Band Public Rocks has been selected by the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to participate in their Battle of the Corporate Bands competition later this month, and the band is inviting the community to a free pre-competition concert on Tuesday, March 18 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on the front steps at Anaheim City Hall.
The event will include food and beverages, silent auctions, and more, and will serve as a fundraiser for the competition’s entrance fee.
Public Rocks band members Johnny Chan, Ryan Crabtree, Bill Moorhead, Bob Palaeologus and Mark Vukojevic formed the band four years ago to perform at an employee event. Word spread and additional requests came in. Just recently they played at the annual State of the City luncheon.
Entrance in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame competition is a selective process. Corporate bands must submit a proposal and a demo tape. The top bands are asked to perform in one of three regions nationwide. Public Rocks will compete regionally on Saturday, March 22 at The Mint in Hollywood against corporate bands from Mattel, Level 3 Communications, and First National Bank of Omaha. Winners of the regional competitions will then travel to Cleveland for the national competition. The Battle of the Corporate Bands competition is co-sponsored by Fortune Magazine.
