Anaheim Mayor Pringle Announces Friendly Wager With Chicago's Mayor Daley
ANAHEIM, CA - (October 11, 2005) - With the Anaheim Angels defeating the New York Yankees and moving on to face the Chicago White Sox in the American League Championship Series, Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle and Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley have agreed to a friendly wager as the two teams prepare to meet for the right to play in the World Series.

"We know Chicago is a formidable opponent with the best regular season record in the American League, but our Anaheim Angels have the hearts of champions," said Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle. "Though I'm sure they're exhausted having to play three games in three different time zones in 48 hours, we look forward to playing for the American League pennant."

"Chicago has always been a great sports town, and that's certainly apparent today as people from across the city - Cubs fans as well as Sox fans -- have come together to cheer on the Sox to the American League pennant," said Mayor Daley, a lifelong Sox fan, at a press conference at City Hall. "We have offered a feast of Chicago's favorite foods, and the best thing is we won't have to send it to Anaheim, because the White Sox are going to win."

If the Angels defeat the White Sox, Chicago will be sending delicacies that are enjoyed by people throughout the Chicago area and, in many cases, throughout the nation.
