| ANAHEIM, CA - (April 20, 2006) - Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle announced a friendly wager with Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier as the Calgary Flames and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim prepare to meet in the National Hockey League's Western Conference quarterfinal playoffs this Friday.
If Calgary loses the best of seven series, Mayor Bronconnier will raise the Anaheim City flag donning a Mighty Ducks jersey and a pair of Disneyland's 50th Anniversary golden Mickey Mouse ears. In the unlikely event of a Flames victory, Pringle will wear a Flames jersey along with Calgary's famous Smithbuilt white cowboy hat while raising the city's flag in front of Anaheim City Hall.
"Saddle up Mayor Bronconnier," Mayor Pringle said. "The Mighty Ducks are coming to town and will charge through Calgary on their way to the Stanley Cup. I expect this to be a competitive series, but I am confident that in the end the Ducks will extinguish the Flames at the Pond."
Equally confident, Mayor Bronconnier noted, "This isn't a bet made lightly I can assure you. I love Disneyland, but Mickey Mouse ears? I just want my new friend Mayor Pringle to be aware that Calgary has a magic kingdom too - it's called the Saddledome. This is going to be a very exciting series."
The first game of the series will be Friday at Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary at 7 p.m. (PST). The remainder of the Western Conference championship games will take place as follows:
Game 2 - April 23 at Pengrowth Saddledome, Calgary, 6 p.m. (PST)
Game 3 - April 25 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, 7 p.m. (PST)
Game 4 - April 27 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, 7 p.m. (PST)
Game 5 - April 29 at Pengrowth Saddledome, 7 p.m. (PST)
Game 6 - May 1 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, TBD
Game 7 - May 3 at the Pengrowth Saddledome, TBD Media Contact: Ruth Ruiz 714.765.5060 more city news
