The Information Technology Bureau is responsible for supporting all hardware and software systems at the Anaheim Police Department as well as administrating a law enforcement network that supports the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS), Cal-Gang system, and Live Scan fingerprint transmissions to Department of Justice.
The Anaheim Police Department utilizes 600 desktop PCs and laptops, along with 184 mobile data computers, and a myriad of other peripheral equipment including scanners, cameras, plotters, and printers. Our user population encompasses all full-time and part-time employees in addition to Reserve Officers, volunteers, Explorers, temporary employees, and a small number of users that work at other City, County, and State Departments that have access to portions of our systems. The Information Technology section is responsible for setting up all network access accounts and maintaining those accounts appropriately as people come and go from the department as well as when they change job functions within the department. We also manage connectivity for 11 different facilities, consisting of police substations and athletic venues at Honda Center and Angel Stadium, as well as a security office within Disneyland Park.
Among the software systems supported by the Information Technology staff are Microsoft Windows workstations and Windows, SQL, mass storage and Linux servers. Major applications supported include ELETE (for CLETS access), Traffic Citation System, Records Management System (RMS), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, Automated Report Writing, Office Automation, Photo Mugshot and Jail Booking System, Gang Information System, Document Imaging, and the Mobile Computer System. Many of these systems were written specifically for our needs and entirely or partially by in-house Information Technology staff. All are maintained by the IT Bureau.
These systems are kept operational 24 hours per day, 365 days a year by the IT staff.
