Anaheim’s 2008 Rose Parade Float,
Winner of the Governor’s Trophy
The world-class attractions depicted on the City’s float included the Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks, the Angels Major League Baseball team, Honda Center and the Disneyland Resort. The Stanley Cup Trophy made its first appearance in the parade in its 119-year history. A multitude of cars and buses with moving wheels, and even a helicopter with spinning rotors, transport the celebration-bound to the City’s attractions and palm tree-dotted environment. The City of Anaheim celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2007, as well as its 15th entry in the Rose Parade.
The roadways were decorated with light and dark lettuce seed, accented with fine cut strawflower lane markings; the traffic signs featured split pea, ground rice and parsley flakes. The palm trees were created with palm bark trunks, tepe komador fronds with parsley flake highlights, and dendrobium and cymbidium orchid accents. The vehicles variously featured carnation petals, strawflower, lettuce seed, onion seed, lentil seed and ground rice. The deck was created with carnations, roses, daisies, chrysanthemums, orchids and marigolds.
