WEST ANAHEIM NEWS
On May 28, 2009, Police Chief John Welter recognized a member of the west Anaheim community at the annual Anaheim Police Awards & Retirement Ceremony. Robert Fournier was presented with a certificate and award at the evening ceremony held at “The Grove of Anaheim” in front of a crowd of 400 attendees.
Mr. Fournier was awarded the Community Member Recognition Award for his work and assistance in preventing crime in west Anaheim and the Embassy Circle neighborhood.
For the past 10 years, Robert has been the president of the “Embassy Circle Owner’s Group.” He, along with his wife Dolores, has taken an active role in improving the conditions and quality of his neighborhood. Robert routinely reports, photographs and paints over graffiti eh encounters. He has been working so closely with Anaheim’s Code Enforcement Department that they gave him his own supply of paint!
In December of 2007, a series of commercial robberies began occurring near the Embassy Circle neighborhood. At about this same time coincidentally, Robert reported to the West District Community Policing Team that a group of suspicious males were hanging out in the neighborhood with similar descriptions as the robbery suspects.
On January 10, 2008, a robbery occurred and the suspects were last seen running into the neighborhood. Sergeant Sharon Pietrok was in the area and heard the radio broadcast. She headed towards the neighborhood and immediately called Robert. Robert directed the sergeant to the exact location of where he thought the suspects might be found. The sergeant and another officer quickly found the suspects exactly where Robert directed them and they were in fact the suspects from the robbery.
The Anaheim Police Department is proud to recognize Robert Fournier for his dedication to the West District and the Embassy Circle Neighborhood and making a difference in Anaheim.
