The City of Anaheim is not hiring Lifeguards or Swim Instructors at this time. Please check back to see if positions become available.
LIFEGUARD
To become a lifeguard you will need to be certified in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Automated External Defibrillation (AED). This training is available through the City of Anaheim and the American Red Cross. All certifications listed above are combined into one class entitled Lifeguard Training. You must be at least 15 years old to take the Lifeguard Training class.
SWIM INSTRUCTOR
To become a swim instructor, you must have successfully completed the Lifeguard Training certification class as well as the Water Safety Instructor certification class. You must be 16 years old to take the Water Safety Instructor class.
SUPERVISOR
Pool Supervisor and Assistant Pool Supervisor positions require all of the above certifications. Experience supervising staff is desired, as is a Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification.
VOLUNTEER
Join the City of Anaheim Volunteen program!
If you are at least 13 years old, and have a strong swimming background, you can earn community service hours by volunteering at one of our pools for the summer. Volunteering at the pool allows teens the opportunity to be part of a program that gives them aquatics experience. Many of our Volunteens continue on to become paid lifeguards! Volunteers are not guaranteed positions as lifeguards; however, they are strongly encouraged to apply after they have been certified.
