Q: What is the Affordable Rental Housing Program Interest List?
A: Referrals to properties participating in the Affordable Rental Housing Program is based solely on an Interest List. What this means is that when an affordable unit becomes available, property managers/owners may notify the City of Anaheim about vacancies. The City of Anaheim will then match the criteria of that specific unit with all the enrollees on the Interest List.
Q: How will I be notified if I qualify for an affordable unit?
A: Due to the high level of interest in the program, enrollees will not be notified if they qualify for an affordable unit. Therefore, prior to submitting an enrollment form, please confirm your income eligibility by reviewing the income qualification guidelines at www.anaheimhousingprograms.com.
Q: How will I know if there is an affordable unit available?
A: Enrollees meeting the unit’s criteria (income requirement & household size) will be notified by mail.
Q: How long will I be on the Interest List for an affordable unit?
A: Preference in filling available units is given to households that currently live and/or work in the City of Anaheim. However, the City of Anaheim does not control the availability of units, therefore the wait time is unpredictable.
Q: I need to move soon, will I be given preference based on my circumstances?
A: There is no partiality based on individual circumstances for obtaining an affordable rental unit.
Q: What if I have questions regarding the rent amount or tenant issues?
A: The City of Anaheim does not administer any property management or leasing matters. Property managers/owners of the vacant unit(s) make the final tenant selection decision for the available unit(s) and manage any tenant issues.
Q: How much is the rent amount for an affordable rental unit?
A: Rent amounts fluctuate depending on the unit size and location of the available unit.
