Dusk to Dawn Lighting - Residential

Energy-efficient security lighting for Anaheim homeowners

Receive free high pressure sodium (HPS) or fluorescent lights with photo sensors that automatically turn lights on at dusk and off at dawn. A 70-watt HPS light has a 24,000-hour life span (compared to a 1,000-hour life span for an incandescent bulb) and can last up to six years before needing to be replaced. It uses up to 70 percent less energy than a standard 300-watt incandescent bulb, while providing a similar level of light output.

How the Program Works

  1. Simply stop by the following location any time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to pick up your free high-efficiency, outdoor Dusk to Dawn light:

    Anaheim Public Utilities
  2. Commerce Park Anaheim
    1440 S. State College Blvd., Unit 2F
    Anaheim, CA 92806

  3. Bring a copy of your Anaheim Public Utilities electric bill and a valid California driver’s license or ID card.

  4. You will be asked to sign an agreement noting the terms of the program, and you will be given installation instructions.

  5. You will have 30 days to have your new light installed. We recommend using a licensed electrician.

  6. Thirty days after receiving the light, our representative will conduct an inspection to verify installation.

INCOME-QUALIFIED ASSISTANCE

In addition to receiving a free outdoor light, income-qualified residents may also have the light installed by one of Anaheim’s approved and licensed electrical contractors free of charge.
