The primary function of the Traffic Control Assistants (TCAs) is to provide for the smooth flow of traffic throughout the City of Anaheim. TCAs can be seen performing their duties at special events at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, the Anaheim Convention Center, in the streets around Disneyland or facilitating the flow of traffic at accident scenes. If there is a major power failure or any other event that causes traffic interruption, the TCAs are dispatched to restore order and get traffic moving again. Their efforts are a great help to the police, allowing the sworn personnel to perform their duties without having to worry about the flow of traffic. TCAs also protect Officers from being struck by traffic as they investigate traffic accidents or crimes that occur on a roadway. This group of dedicated men and women work hard to insure that motorists travel quickly and safely through Anaheim. They are civilian employees of the Police Department who are attached to the Traffic Bureau. Their ranks are made up of 34 full and part-time workers. Mary Jo Rigney and Paul Munoz (pictured right) are the supervisors of the TCA corps. They are responsible for making sure the numerous events throughout the City are staffed with personnel to handle the steady stream of motorists that reside in or visit the City of Anaheim every day.
