Current City of Anaheim Construction Codes

The State of California adopts codes that apply to construction projects throughout the state. On January 1, 2011, new codes published by the California Building Standards Commission became effective. The City of Anaheim adopted these codes with certain local amendments effective January 1, 2011. These codes will stay in effect until the next edition of the California Building Standards Code is adopted.

Copies of all codes are available for reference at the City of Anaheim City Clerk's office located on the 2nd floor of City Hall East at 200 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805.

Zoning Code -- Chapter 18 of the Anaheim Municipal Code (A.M.C.)
On June 8, 2004, the Anaheim City Council adopted Ordinance No. 5920, which amended and updated Chapter 18 in its entirety.   The Zoning Code outlines all permitted and prohibited land uses within the City of Anaheim and identifies the requirements for developing/building within land use zones. The purpose of the Zoning Code is to promote growth of the City in an orderly manner, and to promote and protect the public health, safety, peace, comfort and general welfare in conformance with the General Plan.
