Treated wood contains chemicals to protect it from insects, rot, microorganisms, and fungus. Common wood that has been painted, varnished or stained is not treated.

How do I dispose of treated wood?
Treated wood cannot be burned, chipped, grounded, mulched, or stored for more than thirty (30) days and must be taken to an authorized facility for disposal. At this time, Prima Deshecha Landfill is the only facility approved to accept treated wood waste for disposal in Orange County. It is located at:

What will I need when I dispose of my TWW?
Individual residential construction, remodeling, and/or demolitions are exempt from providing documentation and paying fees to dispose of Treated Wood Waste at Prima Deshecha Landfill.
Commercial, governmental, or industrial sources require documentation for each shipment of TWW, including the source of generation (on a non-hazardous waste manifest form). A fee will be charged for disposal.
