Historic
Preservation Project - Creating Homeownership Opportunities and Saving
Homes from Demolition
As part of the City's
dedication to restoring historic structuresand commitment to meeting the
affordable housing needs of the community, the Agency has embarked on
a four-phase historic preservation project.
Phases One and Two
involve seven houses on South Lemon and Water Streets and consists of
the restoration/rehabilitation of one house already on the site and the
restoration/rehabilitation of six homes that were relocated from surrounding
areas. All seven homes are identified as Qualified Historic Structures
and listed in the Anaheim Colony Historic District Preservation Plan.
This project is slated for completion and occupation in mid-December.
Phase Three consists
of the relocation/restoration of two homes onto Stueckle and will start
when the third structure is selected. Phase Four, slated to commence after
Phase Three is completed, will include the restoration of three more homes
being relocated onto South Lemon Street.

Kraemer
Building Undergoes Rehabilitation and Conversion to Residential Use
The
Anaheim Redevelopment Agency entered into an Owner Participation Agreement
with Clean City Inc., to rehabilitate and convert the historic Kraemer
Building's upper floors to 21 residential units of one and two bedroom
apartments while maintaining the ground, mezzanine and basement floors
for offices. The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce offices are located in the
building. The Kraemer Building, which is located at 201 E. Center Street,
was built in 1924 and is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.
The developer is installing high quality materials and finishes with expert
craftsmanship and design, and state-of- the-art amenities in each unit.
All exterior changes are consistent with the Department of Interior's
Standards for Historic Preservation in order to maintain the historic
