The mission of the Community Services Department is to enrich individuals, families, and the community through the provision of services, facilities, and programs which improve the quality of life in Anaheim.
Golf • Anaheim Hills Golf Course is the perfect location for tournaments, weddings and meetings. The new clubhouse features banquet facilities for over 350 people, meeting rooms and a sports bar.
• Dad Miller Golf Course is the home of the new Tiger Woods Learning Center and a favorite among those who like to walk.
Libraries • Anaheim now has 6 Libraries and 2 Bookmobiles that offer services throughout the city.
• There is something for everyone at Anaheim Libraries. Traditional print materials along with video, DVD, music CD, and audio book collections are available at all the libraries.
• Specialized children’s programming, teen zones, Internet access, computer classes, business collections, book clubs, cultural programs and materials in several languages are also offered throughout the system.
• The Anaheim History Reading Room is now open at the new Muzeo site. The History Room maintains the city’s historical documents and oversees the historical Mother Colony House and Anaheim Museum.
Parks • Parks play a very important part in the overall quality of life for Anaheim residents and visitors. The Parks Maintenance Section is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the more than 600 acres that make up the 46 parks within Anaheim.
• The Park Planning and Development Section is responsible for park master planning and facility design, capital projects, construction management, grant preparation, and long range strategic policy planning for parks.
Urban Forestry • The Urban Forestry Section is responsible for the maintenance of over 70,000 city trees located in parks and along Anaheim’s city streets. City tree trimming crews also provide power line clearance tree trimming to approximately 32,000 trees found on private property.
Recreation and Human Services • The City of Anaheim provides an opportunity for residents of all ages and abilities to enjoy a wide variety of recreation programs. Adult programs include art and crafts, dance, fitness, educational, and sports classes. There are also adult softball and soccer leagues. There are scores of youth activities, after school programs, exursions, classes, aquatics, and sports organizations. Special programs include tiny tots, nature, seniors, and therapeutic recreation. Facilities are located throughout the city and rental information is available.
• Human Services provide an opportunity for personal growth and improved health for senior citizens, the economically disadvantaged, at-risk youth, under served neighborhoods, and persons with disabilities.
Neighborhood Services • Neighborhood Services facilitates citywide efforts to improve the “livability” of Anaheim neighborhoods by enabling residents to assist themselves through the creation of partnerships between the City and other community-wide resources. |
