A. MAINTAIN A 10' CLEARANCE FROM TREES TO ALL CHIMNEY OUTLETS

PROPERTY MUST BE MAINTAINED IN A FIRE-SAFE
CONDITION THROUGHOUT THE YEAR The fire department is currently conducting fire safety inspections in the wildland/urban interface area of the city. These inspections, in accordance with requirements of the Uniform Fire Code are conducted to help prevent a potentially devastating wildland fire in your community. All residents are urged to protect their family and property by following the Hazard Reduction Guidelines listed below.

HAZARD REDUCTION SAFETY CHECKLIST

Clear branches and tree limbs a minimum of 10' from all chimneys.

Provide a spark arrestor on all chimneys-screen must be 1/2" mesh.

Be sure street address is clearly posted and contrasting in color to background.

To better protect your property during the extra hazardous conditions of this fire season, all dry weeds, brush, rubbish, dry leaves, and dead trees on your property must be cleared for a distance of 100' or more from all structures.

The minimum unobstructed width of a fire apparatus access road shall not be less than 20'.

Maintain an overhead clearance of 13'6" of brush and trees above roads.

Maintain a minimum of 10' clearance around LPG tanks.

Install protection posts around LPG tanks if the possibility of vehicle damage exists.

Approved spark arrestors are required on exhaust systems of off road vehicles, motorcycles, tractors, and most other equipment.

Clear all leaves, pine needles, and debris from all roofs.

FOR YOUR SAFETY, THE ANAHEIM FIRE DEPARTMENT WILL BE CONDUCTING HAZARD REDUCTION INSPECTIONS IN THE WILDLAND/URBAN INTERFACE AREA. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ENCOURAGES YOU TO BEGIN PROTECTING YOUR COMMUNITY BY FOLLOWING THE ABOVE GUIDELINES.
