Welcome to the Human Resources Department Site!

In order to achieve its goals, the Human Resources Department has adopted a mission statement that reflects a desire to meet the human resources needs of the City of Anaheim. Simply put, we seek to:

"Provide the leadership, direction and support needed to attract, retain and develop quality employees for the City of Anaheim."

DEPARTMENT ORGANIZATION/OPERATION

The Human Resources Department as reflected in the organizational chart perform services in one of the following areas:

Personnel Services
Conducts the City's job recruitments and is responsible for the City's Merit System. Through formal training and staff assistance, City departments are advised in matters relating to employment.

Compensation & Benefits
Staff works with operating department management to develop accurate job descriptions, job titles and appropriate salary recommendations which help ensure labor market competitiveness and reasonable internal relationships for City jobs. Employee Benefits advises employees about the various health, pension, disability, flexible spending, and retiree medical plans, their provisions and the various enrollment options.

Employee Relations
Equal Employment Opportunity/Non-Discrimination Program
The Equal Employment Opportunity/Non-Discrimination Program requires that appointments and promotions be based solely on qualifications without regard to race, religion, color, political affiliation, age, sex, national origin, marital status or handicap.

Organizational Development
The development programs represent the belief that employees at all levels should be provided with opportunities for personal and professional development.


Labor Relations
Represents the City's interests as the employer in the meet and confer (negotiations) process with the eight employee organizations that represent City employees. The labor relations staff works with operating department management to interpret labor agreements, address and resolve grievances and process disciplinary actions when appropriate.

Human Resource Information
The Human Resource Information Management System has the key responsibility of accurately maintaining the automated and manual records for each of the City's 4,000 employees.

The Human Resources Department is open for business from 7:30 am. to 5:00 pm., Monday through Friday. The department maintains a 24-hour Job Information Line and has a telephone answering system operating during evenings, weekends and holidays.
